Right from the start of the article I was immediately hooked. The first paragraph really got my attention and overall the article was very interesting. I believe inequality is an issue throughout the world. But what do you think the World Health Organization discussed during their conference? What types of topics and issues of inequality do you think are vital to discuss? Another issue the article talked about was the baboons, how inequality not only effects humans, but also animals. Do you think one of the main reason why people deal with depression is because of inequality? Explain why you feel this way? The lesser people dying seemed to be a pattern, why do you think this is so? In the last paragraphs what did you think about the statistics of average income?

My Walk Through the Valley of Death

The reporter, Janine de Giovanni, gave a good sense of being on the streets of Libya. She described the sights, smells and sounds well, which helped make the article even more interesting to read. While the Libyans are now free, her country and their people have been devastated. She gives three examples of how people's lives have been shattered at home and abroad. She ends her piece with an interview of a University of Tripoli professor, who gives the recipe for success. He makes it clear that everyone must be careful with propaganda, and recommends that the government must be "transparent". A clear and open government is the only way to start gaining the people's trust back. He warns that this will take a long time, do you guys think the people Libya can wait that long? Do you think that the people will get over their urge for revenge? And lastly, do you think that the people will understand what an open society will feel like, even it it makes them feel vulnerable?

Independent Reading

You have each chosen an independent reading book that deals with some aspect of WWII.
The task is to create a blog post that will convey the knowledge you gained from reading the book.
You are going to teach the rest of us.
In order to get started, you should put the title and author of your book.  Using this site, you can put links to actual historic events (You Tube, Google images etc) and really design your blog with the intent of being "absolutely fascinatingly" creative.
Show me and your classmates what you have learned.
If you have chosen a biography, don't recount the birth to death life story.  Choose those event(s) that pertain to that person's role during WWII.
If you have an event, you should give some background and a description of the actual event.

Be sure to include discussion of the significance.

Make your page colorful and informative.  Use pictures, video clips, music etc. to educate us.

Due October 13.
